Where to Stay

With the Key being quite small, there are only a few options for overnight stays.

Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne – If you want a hotel in Key Biscayne then this would be your option. While it is pricey, you get what you pay for. It has recently been updated and is in the heart of  the village. It has everything you need for a peaceful high-end getaway including a few restaurants, a spa, multiple pools and a cocktail bar. 

Airbnb – Steps from the beach and just on the other side the Ritz Carlton. Walking distance to the village square that is full of shopping, and unique cuisine.

Transportation

Getting to Key Biscyane is quite simple, especially if you are already in the South Florida area, you have a few options.

The closest airport would be Miami International Airport (MIA): Drive or take an Uber/Lyft. The trip is typically 30–40 minutes, depending on traffic.

From Downtown Miami or Brickell: It’s about a 15–20 minute drive via the Rickenbacker Causeway.

From Miami Beach/South Beach: Expect a 25–35 minute drive, depending on traffic.

Brightline Train: This runs from Orlando, West Palm, Boca Raton, Aventura, and Fort Lauderdale. It is about a 20 minute drive from the Miami Brightline Station to the Key.

You could also bike from Brickell for a day trip, which is scenic and avoids traffic.

Where to Eat and Drink

There are a lot of small unique restaurants on the key, while some are more vibrant. Here are a few popular fun spots with a local Miami twist…

Rusty Pelican – A stable restaurant that you pass by before even getting into the depths of the village. It is surrounded by water, while still providing a perfect skyline view of Brickell. They have a variety of seating options, from main dining, to outdoor and a bar area

The Cleat – This is more of a bar scene but can not be missed. Tucked away at the very end of the village, and nestled in the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, this spot is prime. It’s a beer garden type vibe but with live music and a casual vibe. You can golf-cart, drive, or even pull your boat up to it! 

Vinya Key Biscayne – This is my personal favorite! A wine bar and restaurant inside a high-end wine shop. Whether you are looking for a high-quality meal, a unique glass of wine, or a flavorful cocktail – this is the spot to go. It is located in a shopping center so it blends in, but upon entering you feel the ambiance

Gramps Getaway – A waterfront bar at Rickenbacker Marina with live music with a variety of fresh seafood and unique cocktails . It is the perfect spot for lunch after a beach or boat day, or an ideal place to wind down with a cocktail at sunset overlooking boats and the water 

Activities

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park – This state park has 1.5 miles of paved biking trails and some unpaved terrain as well that makes for a scenic walking trail during the day. 

Cape Florida Light House – This light-house is at the end of the key in the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park if you are looking for the oldest structure in Miami-Dade. They have tours daily, and the lighthouse includes 109 spiral steps up to the top

Rickenbacker Bridge – A perfect walk or bike ride to get views and an exercise with a perfect breeze
